OnePlus is one of the few companies that doesn’t forget the updates on phones they have sold. As usual, they have kept their promise and the company is rolling out OxygenOS 5.0 update on top of Android 8.0 Oreo for their OnePlus 3 and 3T.
Some of the European customers have already received the OTA update. The update is being released in batches one by one and if you haven’t received the update yet, don’t worry. you will soon see Android 8.0 Update notification lying in your Notification pull down on OnePlus 3 and 3T.
The new update will bring following changes:
- Update to Android O (8.0)
- Added Parallel Apps
- Added Picture in Picture
- Added Auto-fill
- Added Smart text selection
- New Quick Settings design
- Updated security patch to September
- Added notification dots
- New app folder design
- Now able to upload photos directly to Shot on OnePlus
If this changelog seems familiar, then you are right. The Open Beta update released last month also came with the same changelog and included the same September security patch update but unlike the Open Beta, the new OxygenOS 5.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo will be more stable.
As mentioned earlier, OnePlus is rolling out the Android Oreo update slowly and only few devices have received the update yet. Make sure to keep manually checking for the update if you haven’t received it yet.
